Paisley can jump surprisingly high fences. She doesn't tend to run off when she does, she may just take herself to the neighbouring field, but secure fencing genuinely matters for her.
She can be a little possessive of food around smaller dogs and is still improving with guidance.
She's genuinely shy when she first meets most people; give her a minute or two rather than crowding her.

Paisley's Rescue Story

Paisley was found with her siblings at a construction site in Hua Hin, having been removed from their mother and abandoned. A local feeder had been looking after them, so they arrived in fair physical condition, and Paisley hasn't needed significant medical treatment since. She has been at Baan Maa since April 2025.

About Paisley

Paisley is sweet, gentle and quietly independent, in the way some cats are independent: she's perfectly happy to take herself off somewhere quiet and relax alone, and then, when she decides she wants affection, she'll happily soak up cuddles for hours. She can be shy when she first meets someone, usually only needing a minute or two before deciding they're safe. She loves being up high. She sleeps in a crate but also seeks out chairs, tables and anywhere else she can watch the world go by from a bit of a height. She arrived at Baan Maa with her siblings after being found at a construction site in Hua Hin, having already been cared for by a local feeder, and hasn't needed significant medical treatment since.

Life with Paisley

Paisley's day starts around 8am with a walk and play with the other dogs, then a nap through the hottest part of the day, and more play once it cools. At dinner time she often heads to her crate and waits her turn. Afterwards she's out in the field again, sometimes with Baan Maa's paralysed dogs.

People

Paisley takes a minute to warm up to men, then enjoys the attention; she's immediately comfortable with women. She's fine with teenagers, very good and playful with young children, and usually only needs a minute or two with strangers and visitors before deciding they're fine. She loves one-to-one cuddles, though bath time can prompt a strategic escape attempt.

Other Animals

Paisley is good with other dogs of any size or sex and is generally submissive, with a particular fondness for older, larger, calmer playmates. She has little interest in livestock beyond the occasional bark at a buffalo, and will occasionally bark at or chase a squirrel. She's untested with cats. No resource guarding has been observed, though she can be a little possessive of food around smaller dogs, something she's actively improving on.

Training

Paisley is toilet, lead and crate trained, good in the car, and knows sit, come and wait, with good recall. Her food manners are polite. She can be nervous while her lead is being fitted but walks normally once it's on.

Dogs moving into a new home often regress a little at first, even on things they'd already learned. That's normal, not a step backwards - a bit of patience and the same consistent routine soon has them back on track.

Health

Paisley is healthy, spayed and vaccinated, with no known injuries, no medication, no known allergies, no mobility problems and no known ongoing needs.

Ideal Home

Paisley would suit an apartment with frequent outdoor access, or a house; a garden would be enjoyed but isn't essential. She's an excellent first-time-owner dog, wonderful with children, and could live with a compatible, non-dominant dog. A young family willing to walk her, train her and include her in the day's activities could suit her particularly well. She'd also do well with retired owners, active families or someone working from home.

Might not be the best match if...

Avoid pairing her with a large, dominant dog, and make sure fencing is genuinely secure given how well she can jump.

Fun Fact

Paisley thinks floors are overrated. Chairs, tables and anywhere else with a decent vantage point are much more her style. She also has a wonderfully sheepish expression and a real weakness for ear scratches.

Perfect Day

A walk and a play with her friends, a long nap somewhere with a view, an evening in the field, and a proper stretch of quiet, one-to-one cuddling with someone she trusts.
